Returning to New Eden

"Life in a Wormhole" is a collection of blog posts documenting my adventures in EVE Online. Together with a small group of real life friends we will attempt to survive in the harshest of space EVE has to offer.

"Right then. Where am I?"

I find myself sat in a pod at the CONCORD Bureau of Sendaya V, a 0.3 status system right on the edge of Doril - the beginning of sovereignty-free null sec. My last home. I would base here with dozens of pre-fitted frigate ships in my hangar, cruising around 0.0 looking for a good fight. The final action, of my last subscription, must've ended in me losing my ship and pod. New Eden has always been a harsh mistress.

But this isn't why I'm here. I need to get back to my high-sec PvE home. Earn some ISK while we plan our journey into wormhole space. Back to my mission Drake. I heard they'd tampered with her in my absence. I needed to check the nuts and bolts. Pray she was still fit to fly.

I scramble my brain. There's something I need to do. Ahh - the Medical Bay! The protection against losing skill points. It starts to come back to me. Now then, where's my Drake?

"Oh, they've added searching to your assets. Cool. Holy shit, that's a long way away..."

30+ jumps and not at all friendly looking, time to see if I can still navigate my way around low sec. My trusty Buzzard sits conveniently next to me. A true scout, tried and tested - all cloak, no weapon. Time to fly.

By habit, I open the People & Places tab. I still have the insta-undocks bookmarked. (Stored server side, I guess). The station entrance is clear, but I want to re-forge old habits. I insta-warp to 250km and cloak up. I'm in space.

"I'm not insured!"

I pretend its too late to turn back now. What's the point of doing my first undock into dangerous space, if I'm going to return back to the station after 2 minutes. Besides, I'm headed into high sec, local is busy and I have a long journey ahead of me.

"Time to get started."
